As you may have seen on another project page, I’ve been collecting Micro Machines since I was a teenager. Fast forward to 2016 and I created a little web experiment to catalogue them – this can be seen on the aforementioned project page. Having seen this, in 2019, retro specialist publisher Bitmap Books approached me proposing we work together to publish a high-quality book showcasing the collection. Naturally I agreed.
Soon after, I began interviewing the original Micro Machines designers and model makers from Galoob, all of whom were so excited to join me on the project. They provided invaluable info, stories, concept art, drawings and even prototype models. Researching, writing and designing a book, all at the same time, was one of the most challenging endeavours of my career, but it was a labour of love that myself, the ‘Galoobians’ and the publisher were all so pleased with.
Introduced by John Moschitta Jr., the fast-talking Micro Machines Man of the TV commercials, Micro but Many: an unofficial Micro Machines collection features over 1,000 beautifully photographed Micro Machines – the must-have miniature cars of our misspent youth.
